The event was attended by 950 delegates representing more than 10 million trade union members all over Viet Nam and seven international delegations.
Delivering the opening speech at the congress, President of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor Bui Van Cuong said that over the past five years, the country’s economy has overcome difficulties, challenges and maintained the stable growth. Many legal rights of employees have been paid special attention and the quality of laborers has been improved, significantly contributing to building and protecting the country.
The congress is an important political event of workers, opening the new development phase of the Viet Nam Trade Union, he stressed.
President Cuong asked each delegate to focus on discussing contents and giving opinions about the amendment of the Charter of the Viet Nam Trade Union to meet duty requirements in the new period; selecting personnel for the executive board of the 12th Congress of the Viet Nam Trade Union.
The congress will discuss and adopt various reports of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor, including reviews of the last five years in implementing the 11th Congress’s resolution and missions for the 2018-2023 tenure, and the amendment of the Charter of the Viet Nam Trade Union, among others.
Participants will work to pass the resolution of the 12th Congress, with missions, solutions, and breakthroughs in the 2018-2023 tenure, and elect an executive board for the 12th Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor.
