The event took place online simultaneously at six places: the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications in Hanoi and the headquarters of the Department of Information and Communications of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho.
The award-launching ceremony was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam; and Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hoang Quang Phong.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said that this is the second time the national awards for digital technology products have been launched.
He added the awards aims to honor digital technology products which are deigned and created in Vietnam and have practical values in the development of digital economy, digital government and digital society.
It is also a chance to introduce the digital technology products to a large number of domestic businesses and people, Tam stressed.
Tam asserted that the development of the digital technology products is the way for Vietnamese digital businesses to master technologies, making Vietnam independent and self-reliant as soon as possible.
He also urged Vietnamese digital enterprises to promote their advantages, and actively create, design and change their products, services and solutions to meet the market demand.
According to Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, Deputy Director of Information Technology Department, products honored at the "Make in Vietnam Digital Technology Products" awards 2021 must satisfy two main groups of criteria: being designed and created in Vietnam, and having practical value.
This year, businesses will compete in five categories, including: Excellent digital platforms; Excellent digital products; Excellent digital solutions; Narrowing the digital gap; and Potential digital products.
There are some changes in this year edition of the award, specifically, there will be gold, silver and bronze awards for Excellent digital platforms; Excellent digital products; Excellent digital solutions; Narrowing the digital gap.
As for the potential digital products, this category is only applicable to non-business organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises or creative start-ups, and the Top 10 products will be named.
The winning products will also be considered for inclusion on the list of IT products and services prioritized for investing, hiring and purchasing by state agencies and the list of potential projects calling for investment.
Entries should be submitted via the websites: makeinvietnam.mic.gov.vn and makeinvietnam.vcci.com.vn. between June 20 to September 20.
An awards ceremony will be held in December 2021.
