At the meeting, Deputy Head of Hanoi's Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Nguyen Phuc Hai said that the city's Ethnic Minority Committee has been actively involving in the implementation of the national program for socio-economic development among ethnic minorities and in mountainous areas of Hanoi in the period of 2021-2030.

Up to now, the city has allocated VND983 billion for the development of socio-economic infrastructure in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. With the effective implementation of the plan, Hai expected this would contribute to accelerate socio-economic development in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Hanoi, gradually narrowing the gap in living standards and income between ethnic minorities and people living in the rural areas in Hanoi.
Meanwhile, policies for ethnic minority in Hanoi are being implemented in a timely manner and targeting the right subjects. The security, political situation and social order and safety in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the city continue to be stable.
In the remaining time of 2022, the City Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs will continue to implement the ethnic policies, especially the resolution of the Hanoi People's Council on the monthly support policy for prestigious people among ethnic minorities in Hanoi.
At the same time, the city would conduct inspection and supervision on the implementation of a number of ethnic minority programs and policies.
Hanoi also plan to implement the Plan No. 182/KH-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee on the implementation of the Strategy for the ethnic minority in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045 in Hanoi. The deputy head of the Hanoi Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs said that the plan identifies 7 breakthrough tasks, 9 key tasks and 4 groups of solutions to accomplish the strategic goals of ethnic work.

"Compared to other localities, ethnic minority people in Hanoi have a relatively good standard of living," emphasized the Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Hau A Lenh.

The minister also noted a number of issues on ethnic affairs of the Party and the State, saying efforts should not be spared in narrowing the gaps in economic terms, but also in living standards and opportunities to access basic social services.
He, therefore, said it is necessary to have specific and appropriate policies for the synchronous and comprehensive development of ethnic minority in the capital. The Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs also suggested continuing to renew the propaganda work in accordance with the level and awareness of ethnic minorities; mobilize and encourage people to promote their strengths, the sense of self-improvement; and continue to perfect the system of policies for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas.

Son said the goal would be to bring the standard of living and income of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas close to that of the rural suburbs of Hanoi.
