Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Nguyen Trung Dung said over the past year, the local authorities have attached great importance to implement the tree-planting movement, mindful that it has contributed to environmental protection and socioeconomic development in the locality.
Ba Dinh is currently growing more than 50,000 trees, of these, more than 200 trees were planted in residential areas last year, he added.
“The district always encourages local residents to raise their awareness and responsibility for protecting trees, as well as the environment, making significant contribution to fulfilling the goal of grow roughly 500,000 trees in Hanoi”, Dung stated.
On the occasion, the leader urged agencies, units and ward-level authorities to continue calling for the locals to positively respond to the festival, making the environment green, clean and beautiful.
After the launching ceremony, Permanent Deputy Secretary Nguyen Thi Tuyen and other leaders planted five trees in the campus of the Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School in Ba Dinh’s Cong Vi ward.
