Hanoi leaders meet representatives of press agencies ahead of press day (21:51 20/06/2022)

HNP - The Hanoi leaders on June 20 held a meeting with representatives of the media on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2022).  

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s committee Ha Minh Hai briefed the delegates on the city’s socio-economic performance during the first six months of 2022, as well as the main objectives for the remaining period of the year.

According to Hai, Hanoi along with other cities/provinces have now resumed all socio-economic activities amid new normal, while the reactivation of tourism since March 15 has created the foundation for economic recovery.

Hanoi’s GRDP during the first six months of 2022 is estimated at 7.79%, a 1.29-fold increase against the same period of last year.

The city’s export growth reached 19.5% year-on-year, representing a 5-fold increase. Retail, transport and tourism activities are on the recovery process, with total revenue from retail sales and services expanded by 21.8%, tripling the figure for the same period of last year.

Total social investment capital also expanded by 8.8%, higher than the 8.4% from the same period of last year, along with state budget revenue at 56.8% of the estimate, up 20% year-on-year.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung expressed his thanks for the support of press agencies, saying the city would continue to enhance communication with the press and timely address issues raised by the public.

Dung said this is the second year that Hanoi has been implementing the resolution of the Party’s 13th Congress and the city’s 17th Party Congress, for which Hanoi would focus on Party building and improving the efficiency of the entire political system.

Dung said Hanoi aims to boost higher governance quality with a strong focus on objectives of significance to the city’s development.

Referring to the resolution No.15-NQ/TW on the visions and objectives for Hanoi’s development until 2030, with a vision to 2045, Dung said the city is cooperating with other agencies in drafting the revised Capital Law and the modification of the city’s overall construction planning until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Hanoi aims to focus on building the Ring-road No.4 to complete the project before 2026; renovating old building, and investing in culture, education and healthcare.

Dung expected press agencies to continue cooperating with the city in timely covering social-economic issues and supporting Hanoi’s development by creating a consensus among the public.
