At the meeting, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Internal Affairs Vu Thu Ha said recently, the city’s election committee has set up 10 election sub-committees for the election for deputies of the 15th National Assembly and all-level people’s councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.
As of April 13, the city completed seeking feedback on and verify credibility of candidates at their living places as stipulated in the law. So far, the city has a total of 72 candidates for election of deputies of the National Assembly, and 188 others for the position of deputies for the municipal People’s Council; 2,060 deputies for district and ward-level People’s Councils.
After the third consultation conference, Hanoi has set up a list of 37 candidates qualified for election of deputies for the 15th National Assembly; 160 for the deputies of the municipal People’s Council; 1,748 for district and ward level People’s Councils.
So far, the city has also completed setting up the list of over 5.44 million voters for the subsequent election process.
Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen highlighted the efforts of related units and localities in preparing for the upcoming election process, expecting the election to be held in accordance to the law and safe for all involved amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
