According to the secretary, the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the tenure of 2021-2026 has been a success amid the serious COVID-19 situation as it took place democratically and in line with regulations. The election day was truly a big festival for every citizen.
The voters elected 29 deputies for the 15th National Assembly, 95 for the city-level People’s Council, 1,052 at district-level, 10,593 at ward- and commune-levels. Those elected are qualified candidates, representing the will and aspirations of the locals.
The Hanoi Party chief pointed out over the past term, the municipal People’s Council has promoted responsibility and democracy, and have changed methodology to improve its operation.
He said the 16th municipal People’s Council would discuss many major issues within the jurisdiction at the first session.
At the same time, the council will elect key positions of the municipal People’s Councils, People’s Committees, and judges of the Municipal People’s Courts.
He called on the deputies to raise their sense of responsibility to choose the worthy candidates into key leaders of the city’s governing bodies for the 2021-2026 term.
Also at the session, the municipal People’s Committee would also focus discussion on the state budget allocation for districts and communes as Hanoi is set to adopt the pilot urban administration model, and financing mechanism for the COVID-19 fight in the city, the leader underlined.
Dung expressed his hope that elected deputies would be well aware of their responsibility and make effort to enhance the efficiency of the People’s Councils and People’s Committees.
