All 475 deputies present, or 95.19% of the total number of lawmakers, voted in favor of his reelection.
Under the national flag and before the NA and voters nationwide, Hue took an oath, pledging to stay loyal to the nation, people and Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
He vowed to exert great efforts to fulfill tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people.
In his inaugural speech, Hue said he would do his best to continue renewing the working methods and improving the quality and effectiveness of the legislature for the supreme goal of serving national interests and for the sake of well-being of the people.
He also pledged to consolidate national defense-security, firmly safeguard national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and enhance global integration.
The first session of the 15th NA, scheduled to take place from July 20-31, would vote for 50 key positions of the Government, the Legislature, Supreme People’s Court, Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the State Audit Office of Vietnam.
Hue, 64, had been voted as chairman of the 14th National Assembly at the 11th session of the 14 legislature.
He holds the title of Professor in Economics.
He was finance minister from August 2011 to May 2013, head of the Central Economic Commission from December 2012 to April 2016 and became deputy prime minister in April 2016.
In February 2020, he became Party Secretary of Hanoi.
