The Congress elected a new Executive Board consisting of 27 members. Phan Lan Tu, former Director of the Department of Information and Communications, is the President of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association in Hanoi, term 2022-2027.
According to a report at the Congress, in the 2017-2022 term, the Association had closely followed the annual program of foreign affairs work of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations; coordinate with the Central Vietnam-India Friendship Association in implementing activities in Hanoi, maintaining good relations with the Embassy of India and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center.
In the last two years, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected all socio-economic aspects in general and the Association's work in particular, however, the Executive Committee and branches have overcome difficulties in their efforts to achieve positive results.
On the basis of thoroughly grasping the guidelines and policies of the Party and the State on people's diplomacy, especially Directive 12 of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Circular 05 of the Hanoi Party Committee on strengthening and Innovating people's diplomacy in the new situation, with the motto "proactive, creative, flexible and effective", the Executive Board of the Association would focus on promoting strengthen key activities in the 2022-2027 term such as: actively seeking and expanding partnerships with friendship organizations, people's organizations, and individuals in New Delhi and India; organize activities to promote economic cooperation, seek cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese and Indian businesses; responding to the campaign "For the poor", supporting people falling victim of natural disasters under a movement launched by the City Union of Friendship Organizations; mobilizing sponsorship from businesses, giving scholarships to students with difficult circumstances, implementing a number of volunteer programs to teach foreign languages, support living expenses, and provide career guidance to children being cared at Birla Village Hanoi - the work of Vietnam-India friendship.
At the congress, Standing Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong highly appreciated the performance results of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association in Hanoi in the last term. At the same time, she suggested that the Association pay attention to some specific contents in the coming term. Accordingly, Phuong called for the Association to promote friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and India on the Association's website and the mass media, in turn, helping the two peoples of Vietnam and India to enhance mutual understanding; maintaining relations with the Embassy of India, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in coordinating activities, especially those in celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India, India’s 75th Independence Day; expand cooperative relationships with people's organizations and friendship organizations in India; at the same time, actively promote exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, tourism.
