Joining the event were Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission Nguyen Quang Duc; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Education and Communications Commission Bui Huyen Mai; Vice Chairmen of the municipal People’s Committee and deputy heads of the municipal Command for COVID-19 prevention and control Nguyen Trong Dong and Nguyen Manh Quyen; and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
At the meeting, representatives of the city’s departments and localities gave their reports on mass COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
Concerning mass testing and vaccination plan, Director of the municipal Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha said that along with the support from 11 cities and provinces, Hanoi has mobilized all resources to speed up testing in the entire city.
The city strives to provide the first dose of the COVID vaccine for 100% of people aged 18 and over citywide, on the basis of the number of vaccines allocated by the Ministry of Health, she added.
Ha also underlined the necessity of enhancing communication on COVID-19 vaccination in with the motto “the best vaccine is the one available”.
Specialized teams from 11 province and cities will arrive in Hanoi on September 8 and 9 to aid the city’s mass testing and vaccination, Deputy Secretary Phong said, urging the municipal police to create favorable conditions for them to pass through the checkpoints.
He asked the municipal police to advise the city on issuance of inter-regional travel permits to ensure strict enforcement of social distancing measures.
According to Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, Hanoi has applied three color designations to localities for the application of different COVID-19 prevention and control measures in addition to mass vaccination so as to put the pandemic under control.
He requested the health sector to mobilize all forces to accelerate mass testing and vaccination, asking district-level authorities to map out their plans to ensure safety for local residents in testing sites and avoid cross infections during vaccinations.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Phong asked all departments and districts work out their own plans on mass testing and vaccination as guided the Health Ministry.
“People’s Committees of districts and towns must create the best conditions for the city’s health sector to perform specialized tasks as scheduled”, Phong emphasized.
Phong asked for utmost effort from the city’s departments and districts to complete mass testing and vaccinations in order to soon stamp out the pandemic.
The municipal Education and Communications Commission in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications and the media should increase communication activities to create high consensus in the city’s COVID-19 fight, the Party official stressed.
He also required the competent authorities to focus on grasping public opinion and combating fake news and rumors on social media.
