Hanoi honors outstanding persons in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue (07:50 06/05/2021)
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen chaired the meeting.
Vice Director of the municipal Department of Agricultural and Rural Development Nguyen Ngoc Son said since the beginning of the rainy season in 2020, the Hanoi People’s Committee and related departments, units, had set up plans to prevent natural disasters.
Son noted the city’s Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control had prepared required resources and established task forces at 30 districts and wards with the participation of nearly 50,000 people to aid the process.
In the past year, the Hanoi Capital High Command addressed 155 cases with the participation of nearly 9,000 people and 470 vehicles.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen highlighted the efforts of all units and departments in natural disasters prevention and control in 2020, urging all units to stay alert in 2021 given expectation of growing number of natural disasters for this year.
Quyen expected local authorities to check on the quality of dikes and anti-disasters works, while putting up efforts to repair these infrastructures if necessary, before June 30.
The municipal Department of Agricultural and Rural Development should continue to raise public’s awareness on natural disaster prevention, along with search and rescue efforts.
On this occasion, nine groups and 10 individuals with outstanding contribution in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue efforts in Hanoi have received commendation certificate from the municipal People’s Committee.
