The city has mobilized the entire political system in the fight against the pandemic. Ail-level authorities have placed the highest priority on COVID-19 prevention and control.
Being well aware of the important role of COVID-19 testing in early detecting suspected cases, the health sector has focused on improving its testing capacity. Currently, Hanoi is capable of analyzing  up to 30,000 tests a day.
Thanks to conducting rapid contact tracing and timely handling the outbreaks, so far, the capital city has basically controlled infections of five clusters linked to hotpots of Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, Da Nang, an Indian expect, and Vietnam Airlines flight VN160 from Da Nang to Hanoi.
Hanoi is working hard to curb infection from the outbreaks at the second facility of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh district, Tan Trieu branch of the K Hospital in Thanh Tri district, and Thuan Thanh district of Bac Ninh province.
The municipal authorities have imposed lockdown on virus-hit areas in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Directive 16.
From April 29 until now, the task forces have conducted coronavirus testing for 24,973 people, including 11,554 F1 cases and 13,419 people at high risk of catching COVID-19. To date, 69,677 people have been vaccinated.
According to the municipal Steering Committee, Hanoi is carrying out synchronous measures to contain the spread of the virus.
In addition, the city must elaborate scenarios to respond to the complicated development of the pandemic, and ensure safety for the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for 2021-2026 tenure.
According to Acting Director-General of Hanoi’s Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan, her agency plans to ensure sufficient supply of goods for residents in any situation. Businesses in Hanoi are stocking up 17 groups of essential goods worth a total of VND194 trillion.

Warning that Hanoi is at very high risk of COVID-19 infections due to the complicated situation in neighboring provinces, he asked for strict enforcement of regulations on coronavirus prevention and control.
The municipal People’s Committee will soon issue its official letters to enhance COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, Anh stated.
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung speaks at the meeting.
Concluding the meeting, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung said that the city must be calm and on high alert, as well as drastically implement measures to stamp out the pandemic and protect public health.
He praised the effort of all levels, branches and people in fighting against COVID-19 and maintaining socio-economic development as well as carefully preparing for the upcoming election.
However, the pandemic is still complicated in Hanoi, with a cluster of COVID-19 cases found in Gia Lam district linked to the outbreak of Bac Ninh’s Thuan Thanh hotspot, the Party chief noted, urging all-level authorities and citizens to  remain vigilant and continue to practice protective measures against the novel virus.
Emphasizing that the “supreme” goal is protection of public health and life, the leader asked the task force to rapidly conduct contact tracing and speed up COVID-19 testing to timely handle the outbreaks.
He called on local residents to closely follow the message of the Health Ministry featuring 5K (in Vietnamese) Khau trang (facemask) - Khu khuan (disinfection) - Khoang cach (distance) - Khong tu tap (no gathering) - Khai bao y te (health declaration).
For the time being, Hanoi needs to promote the role of COVDI-19 inspection teams in the community, better manage concentrated quarantine camps, promptly cordon off affected areas, carry out COVID-19 vaccination campaign, and prepare the best conditions for the elections, among others, the Secretary ordered.
