Anh said, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges, causing serious impacts on production and business activities, and taking a heavy toll on the city's socio-economic development, however, Hanoi's administration has exerted every effort to effectively realize the dual task of fighting the pandemic and boosting economic recovery.
According to him, Hanoi has posted economic growth of 2.92% year-on-year, higher than the country's average rate of 2.58%.
He praised some districts, namely Hoan Kiem, Tay Ho, My Duc and Ung Hoa, for their effort in accelerating disbursement of public investment capital, while asking all departments, sectors and localities to focus on three major tasks in the coming time.
Stressing that top priority should be given to COVID-19 prevention and control work, the mayor requested the localities to make thorough preparations in response to the evolution of the pandemic.
Particularly, the local authorities need to finish the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for elderly people with underlying medical conditions, tighten the control of returnees from Omicron-hit areas, and reduce overloading for the healthcare system.
Anh underlined the public awareness is the core factor in the fight against COVID-19.
In order to ensure a cozy Tet holiday, Chairman Anh urged the city's entities and localities to take more care of policy beneficiaries and those facing difficulties due to the pandemic.
Regarding promotion of economic growth, he asked all agencies and units to be determined and take effective measures to achieve the targets set for 2021.
