Hanoi to mobilize resources for five districts and 14 communes to accomplish new-style rural area building (15:34 26/04/2021)
In attendance were Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi committee Nguyen Lan Huong; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Education and Communication Bui Huyen Mai; Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha; Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the program Nguyen Manh Quyen; and leaders of some departments, sectors and localities.
12 out of 18 districts meet new-style rural standards
Giving a report at the conference, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Chu Phu My said that the Steering Committee for Program 04-CTr/TU on “Enhancing the effective implementation of the National Target Program on new style rural area building and agricultural restructuring for better living standards of people in rural areas for 2021-2025 period” has served as an advisory body for the municipal Party’s Committee to issue the city’s Program 04-CTr/TU on March 17.
Over the past quarter, the committee enhanced inspection and stepped up the building of new style rural areas in four suburban districts, while timely removing difficulties and problems for them to accomplish set targets as scheduled, he stated.
According to him, Hanoi has another five districts (Thach That, Thuong Tin, Thanh Oai, Phuc Tho and Soc Son) being recognized as new style areas, increasing the number of new style rural district to 18.
Among five remaining localities, three districts of Chuong My, Me Linh and Ung Hoa plans to become new style rural areas in 2021, and the rest is expected to complete the task one year later.
Regarding the building of new style rural communes and advanced new style rural ones in the January-March period, Mr. My said that another six communes of Hanoi have met all criteria set for new style rural areas and 23 ones recognized advanced new style rural areas.
Especially, Dan Phuong district is striving to be recognized as advanced new style rural district this year, he underlined, adding 14 remaining communes, including five in My Duc district and nine in Ba Vi district, have so far met from 15 to 19 criteria.
Hanoi has 141 production-consumption chains and 164 hi-tech farm production models, bringing high economic efficiency.
Concerning the One Commune-One Product program, Director Chu Phu My said the city has so far verified and rated 1,054 products qualified for OCOP standards. Of which, 17 products achieved five-star potential rating, 731 four-star products and 306 three-star products.
During the period, Hanoi has spent more than VND9.4 trillion (US$408.6 million) on building new-style rural areas, created jobs for around 30,000 laborers and provided loans worth VND199 billion to the poor and policy beneficiaries.
Striving to increase farmers’ average income to VND60 million (US$2,600) per year
Concluding the meeting, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen praised the effort by all levels, sectors and units in implementing the program in the first quarter.
Emphasizing that the task in 2021 is so tough, Tuyen urged the city to mobilize resources and make more effort to accomplish the building in remaining districts and communes.
In addition to the building of new style rural areas, she asked departments and localities to continue developing collective economy and accelerating farm economy.
She asked for special attention to expanding craft villages and industrial clusters, aiming to increase rural average income to VND60 million.
Tuyen also assigned relevant departments and agencies to work together to deal with problems during the building.
