Hanoi mayor inspects COVID-19 prevention work in quarantine facilities (06:31 07/05/2021)


HNP - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh inspected the second facility of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Kim Chung Commune, Dong Anh District; Me Linh Field Hospital and Nhu Ngoc Dental Clinic (No. 21 Tran Quang Dieu Street, O Cho Dua Ward, Dong Da District).

At the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh stressed that Hanoi faces a high risk of coronavirus transmission. 
 
The patients in the city have been infected with different mutants of novel coronavirus, including the UK variant, the South Africa variant and the India variant, he added. 
 
According to him, as medical staff, patients and their caregivers of the hospital were confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, the Ministry of Health has decided to place the hospital under lockdown from 8am on May 5, in an effort to stamp out the outbreak and ensure safety for health workers at the frontline. 
 
At the online meeting, the leader of the hospital said that among 827 samples, 300 gave results and 14 of them are positive for the virus.
 
Regarding COVID-19 infections in the hospital, Deputy Minister of the Health Ministry Do Xuan Tuyen urged Hanoi’s specialized agencies to continue conducting epidemiological investigations and carry out effective measures to prevent the spread of the virus. 
 
The Deputy Minister ordered to put the hospital under  lockdown from May 5 to 19 and collect samples of staff  and patients for COVID-19 testing.
 
The hospital will only admit severe COVID-19 patients for treatment, he emphasized.

Hanoi mayor Chu Ngoc Anh highlighted the effort from medical staff over the past time, confirming that the city would support the hospital during the lockdown period.
 
He requested the hospital to provide a list of patients who had received treatment at the facility from April 20 so that the task forces continue to conduct contact tracing. 
 
Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh latter monitored the enforcement of COVID-19 prevention rules at Me Linh field hospital. 
 
Chairman of the Me Linh district People’s Committee Hoang Anh Tuan said that Me Linh field hospital was built within the campus of a general hospital, which had been left unused for years in Me Linh district.
 
Covering an area of 12 ha, the 3000-bed facility aims to provide services like diagnosis and even treatment to COVID-19 patients in serious conditions.
 

At the working session, the city leader asked the Department of Health in collaboration with Me Linh district and relevant units to prepare equipment for the  facility and be ready to respond to the evolution of the pandemic.

 

Mr. Anh assigned the local authorities to enhance COVID-19 prevention and control efforts and ensure absolute safety for the upcoming election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the tenure of 2021-2026.

 

Visiting the Nhu Ngoc Dental Clinic in Dong Da District, the mayor appreciated the facility’s COVID-19 prevention effort.

 

He asked for better implementation of coronavirus prevention protocols to keep the clinic safe.
