At the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said last year, all five cities had focused on realizing socio-economic development plan amid severe Covid-19 impacts.
During this period, central-level cities remained steadfast in pursuing the dual target of both containing the pandemic and boosting economic recovery. Thanks to the strong efforts, they were able to fulfill a number of key economic targets, including the combined state budget revenue of VND774 trillion in 2020, or 51.4% of the total nationwide; exports of US$99.6 billion, or 35.4% of total exports; inflation and market prices were put under control, among others.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Le Hong Son said in compliance with resolution No.01/NQ-CP dated January 1, 2020 of the government in implementing socio-economic development plan for 2020, five cities issued action plans to boost economic development and address concern of the business community, improving competitiveness and boosting administrative reform.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, five cities had mobilized the participation of the entire political system and society in the fight against the virus for early economic recovery once the pandemic is contained.
In 2021, all five cities would continue to ensure the realization of socio-economic development plans, for which the priority would be the successful organization of the election for deputies of the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 period.
Five cities would remain alert in the Covid-19 fight, while taking opportunities to boost economic recovery in a new normalcy.
