Hanoi implements 'four-on-spot" plan to contain COVID-19 pandemic (11:10 04/10/2021)


HNP - Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung, who is also deputy head of the municipal Command for COVID-19 prevention and control, chaired an online meeting with the commands of departments, districts and township on the fight against the pandemic on October 2.

Giving a report at the meeting, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Health Vu Cao Cuong said that Hanoi confirmed 19 new COVID-19 infected cases related to the coronavirus outbreak in the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital from 6pm on October 1 to 12am on October 2.
 
According to Cuong, Hanoi has so far recorded 28 cases since the detection of the first one in the hospital. Of them, 22 infections were reported in the capital city, three in Nam Dinh and one each in Hung Yen, Ha Tinh and Hai Duong.
 
Since October 1, more than 7,200 samples of people who  visited and worked at the hospital have been collected for SAR-CoV-2 testing. Of them, 200 people are pending the results.
 
Since the four wave of COVID-19 hit the country on April 29, Hanoi has documented 4,261 COVID-19 cases, including 1,317 ones found in the community.
 
Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital has now emerged as  the biggest COVID-19 cluster in Hanoi. As many as 18 areas are currently under lockdown.
 
Regarding COVID-19 testing, Cuong said the city's Center for Disease Control (CDC) has conducted test on over 7,200 samples and found 19 positive cases linked to the cluster in  Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital. 
 
To date, a total of 7,129,401 COVID-19 vaccinate doses have been administered to local people aged over 18. 
 
The health official asked districts and township to enhance inspection on the enforcement of COVID-19 prevention and control regulations, perform COVID-19 tests for people showing symptoms of cough, high body temperature, lack of smell or taste, and  trace all those who had visited the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital in a bid to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
 
Speaking at the meeting, a representative of the Department of Information and Communications informed that the agency advised the municipal authorities on consolidating the Communications Sub-Committee under the Hanoi Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control, and mapped out weekly media plans following the central level and the city's guidance. 
 
Regarding the application of IT in the city's fight against COVID-19, the Department of Information and Communications will continue to respond to people's feedback about the pandemic prevention work via hotline number 1022, mobile apps like Zalo, Bluezone. 
 
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung said that from September 21 to 30, the number of COVID-19 infections in Hanoi decreased significantly, with an average of five cases per day.
 
However, on October 1, Hanoi recorded the first case related to the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital, and since then, stringent measures have been put in place to prevent the virus from spreading. 
 
He underlined that the city faces high risk of COVID-19 transmission, urging the city's entities and localities to remain vigilant and take strong measures to stamp out the pandemic in line with guiding documents of the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control and the municipal authorities, especially the municipal mayor's Directive 22.
 
Dung asked for strong communication on pandemic countermeasures among local residents so that they permanently adhere to the 5K principle and preventive measures set by the Ministry of Health and the city.
 
Dung also asked districts and township to try to deliver the support to virus-hit people in accordance with Decree 68 and Decision 23 of the Government, and Resolution 15 of the municipal People's Council.
 
More effort must be made to put the pandemic under control and boost socio-economic development, he ordered.
