Speaking at the session, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said that her agency planed to ensure supply and demand during the year-end and Tet festival 2021.
According to her, all districts and towns in the city have so far stocked up goods worth VND39.4 trillion (US$1.7 billion). Additionally, 25 production and business units of Hanoi and other provinces, and 2 credit institutions have registered to participate in the program to provide local people with price-stabilized goods through 12,443 selling sites; including 142 supermarkets, 1,351 convenience stores, 7,680 grocery stores, and 1,438 stores at markets.
Local distributors have built plans to increase the amount of essential goods for Tet 2021 by 7-22% compared to the plan for the 2020 Tet, basically meeting people’s needs during the festival.
Concluding the meeting, Tran Duy Dong, Head of the Domestic Markets Department, praised the effort from the municipal authorities and enterprises in ensuring supply of commodities for Hanoi during the upcoming Tet holiday.
He urged them to continue effective implementation of guiding documents of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on stabilizing the market during Tet 2021.
The Market Management Department of Hanoi should coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to keep a close watch on food safety and hygiene, Dong requested.
Dong also requested the Department of Industry and Trade to work with related authorities to create the best conditions for units joining the market stabilization program.
