The report at the Congress showed that the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hanoi chapter and its member branches have effectively implemented people-to-people diplomacy; maintaining partnerships with Russian Embaassy, contributing to the development of the city's people-to-people diplomacy, enhancing mutual understanding between the people of Hanoi and Moscow, and introducing the image of Hanoi to international friends.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Association responded to the call "All people participate in supporting the prevention and control of Covid-19" by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi and the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, and successfully completed fulfilled prevention of pandemics, natural disasters and floods.
Regarding the direction of activities in the new term, the Association will continue to make efforts to perform well the functions and tasks of the Association and participate fully and enthusiastically in peace and friendship activities organized by Vietnam's Union of Friendship Organizations; promote friendship and cooperation activities with partners in Moscow and other cities in Russia, garner the support of overseas Vietnamese living in Russia for the cause of socio-economic development in Hanoi in particular, and of Vietnam in general. At the same time, the Association would organize friendly exchanges with rich and diverse contents in order to enhance understanding and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries and the two capitals; seminars with small and medium enterprises of the two countries to learn about the opportunities for cooperation and investment in Russia.
Speaking at the congress, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko expressed his delight at the positive contribution of people-to-people diplomacy to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam.
“We are grateful to our Vietnamese friends for preserving the memory of our close cooperation during the years Vietnam fought for freedom and independence and the peacetime reconstruction of the country,” Bezdetko said. The ambassador added that the affection and mutual support between the two sides were also fully demonstrated during the recent Covid-19 pandemic. He highlighted the tradition of solidarity and friendship with Russia that Vietnam has. The Ambassador also hoped that the two countries' relations would continue to be strongly promoted and successfully developed for the benefit of the two peoples.
For her part, Standing Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong highly appreciated the activities of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Hanoi chapter in the past term and agreed with the directions, and the mission of the Association set out in the term 2022–2027.
In order to continue promoting the role of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hanoi chapter, in the coming time, Phuong suggested that the Association pay attention to a number of specific contents, including: promoting friendship and cooperation with Russian Embassy, Russian Center of Science and Culture and Russian partners; at the same time, strengthen humanitarian activities of the Association; promote its role as a bridge in economic, cultural, sports and tourism cooperation relations between the two countries, the two capitals as well as between Hanoi and Russian cities in various forms and contents.
