This is the tenth year in a row that the Hanoi People’s Committee assigned the Economic & Urban Newspaper and related agencies to hold the contest “For traffic safety in Hanoi” and the fifth year the contest was carried out online.
Head of the organization board and Editor-in-Chief of Economic & Urban Newspaper Nguyen Minh Duc said over the past nine years, the contest themed “For traffic safety in Hanoi” had attracted massive participation, including that of students from primary to middle schools.
From such contest, the awareness of the public regarding traffic safety has been improved, while traffic congestion in the city has been gradually reduced.
According to Duc, the contest was held at the website http://giaothonghanoi.kinhtedothi.vn/ and started on October 19, 2020 at Le Quy Don middle school in Cau Giay district.
After three rounds of qualification, over 120,000 students participated in the event and qualified for at least one round. After the final round, the organization board selected the winners to award two first prizes, six second prizes, eight third prizes and 13 consolation prizes.
At the event, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan highlighted the efforts of the organization board in holding the event, saying public awareness on traffic safety in the city has been improved, especially among students and the youth.
Tuan requested related agencies to continue work on ensuring traffic safety and reducing traffic congestion for the upcoming election process for deputies of the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-26 period.
