HNP - Due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the city, recently, rumors have been circulated on social media platforms that Hanoi authorities had decided to put the city under lockdown. However, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung confirmed that the local government is not considering locking down the entire city at this time.

According to the leader, Hanoi called on citizens not to leave their house unless necessary, comply with COVID-19 prevention and control regulations, and closely cooperate with the local government to stamp out the disease.
He said that although the COVID-19 situation may be stressful, the city’s functional agencies have effectively carried out measures against the novel coronavirus.
The task forces have worked hard to promptly trace, isolate and test those exposed to COVID-19 infected cases, he added.
The Hanoi Party chief informed that the city decided to close all educational institutions from kindergarten to high school levels to prevent the risk of COVID-19 transmissions.
Relic and religious sites, street eateries, iced tea stalls, cafes, spas and karaoke parlors are required to shutter until next announcement.
Dung asked local authorities to enhance communication on preventive measures on mass media, promote the role of COVID-19 inspection teams in the community, and encourage the locals to join hands in the COVID-19 fight.
He ordered to consolidate the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control led by the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.
The municipal Party Committee is tasked to perfect procedures, and elaborate a plan on rolling out coronavirus vaccinations to all residents.
