The event, largest scale one held so far by the capital city’s authorities, shows Hanoi’s determination of becoming a pioneer in post-COVID-19 economic recovery and development.
The event saw the attendance of Politburo member, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, incumbent and former leaders of the Party and State, representatives of ministries and ministerial-level agencies.
In attendance were ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as economic experts, scientists, heads of provinces and cities nationwide, and more than 1,300 enterprises at home and abroad.
Hanoi’s leaders included Politburo member, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue; member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang; PCC member, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung; Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc; Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dao Duc Toan.
In his opening speech, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue pointed out that Ha Noi is the national political and administrative center, and a hub for culture, education, science and technology, economics and international trade.
Hanoi currently contributes over 16.7% to the nation’s GDP and nearly 19% to the total state budget revenue, he stressed.
According to the Secretary, Hanoi's economic growth averaged 7.3% in the period of 2016-2019; GDP per capita reached US$5,420, 1.8 times higher than the national average.
In spite of negative impacts of the COVID-2019 pandemic, Hanoi still achieved a GRDP growth of 3.4% in the first six months of 2020.

Hue affirmed that the organization of “Hanoi 2020 – Investment and Development Cooperation” after putting the Covid-19 pandemic under control in Vietnam will send a strong message on efforts of the capital city to fulfill the dual task of combating the pandemic and boosting economic development while affirming that Hanoi is a safe and attractive investment destination for both domestic and foreign investors.
Through the event, Hanoi’s authorities show their determinations of making the city a pioneer in post-COVID-19 economic recovery and development, the city leader emphasized, adding that it is also expected to help the capital city enhance administrative reforms, improve investment and trade environment, increase competitiveness and achieve an economic growth rate 1.3 times higher than the country’s average.
The municipal People’s Committee will also announce an investment portfolio of 282 projects, which are calling for investment, with the total capital of VND483.1 trillion.
Hue stated that at the conference, delegates will focus on discussing measures to attract more investment projects to Hanoi, making great contribution to the city’s rapid and sustainable development.
The conference’s outcomes will play an important role in not only the realization of this year’s socio-economic targets but also local development in the years to come, he noted.
On the occasion, the municipal authorities honor individuals, domestic organizations and enterprises at home and abroad having significant contributions to the city’s socio-economic development.
