The event saw the attendance of Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Head of the National Assembly Standing Committee's Board for Deputy Affairs and Deputy Head of the PCC’s Organization Commission Nguyen Thi Thanh.
Among Hanoi leaders were Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung; PCC member and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen; PCC member, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh; Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan; Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi committee Nguyen Lan Huong.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan said that along with the whole country, Hanoi has successfully organized the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the tenure of 2021-2026.
According to him, 99.16% of voters citywide went to the polls to elect 29 deputies for the 15th National Assembly, 95 for the city-level People’s Council, 1,052 at district-level, 10,593 at ward- and commune-levels.
“The election’s success demonstrated the solidarity, responsibility, and political awareness of the people in building a rule-based socialist state under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam,” said Tuan.
He stated that at the first session of the municipal People’s Council, the delegates will vote for key positions of the people’s councils, people’s committees, and judges of the municipal people’s courts.
He hoped that the elected candidates would fulfill with excellence their duties, while realizing resolutions adopted by the 13th National Party Congress and the 17th Hanoi’s Party Congress, ten action plans of the municipal Party Committee and other programs to achieve socio-economic development targets set for the next five years.
He said, at the meeting, the Hanoi People’s Council will discuss and approve resolutions to successful implement the National Assembly’s Resolution No.97 and the Government’s Decree No.32 on the pilot urban administration model in the capital city.
The first session of the 16th Hanoi People’s Council brings along expectations and trust of the locals, Tuan underlined, expressing his belief that the council would truly be the representative for the desire and will of voters.
