This is an activity in a series of programs organized by Hanoi's authorities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2022), demonstrating the principle of "Drink water, remember the source", "Gratitude", remembering and being grateful to heroes and martyrs, who devoted their whole lives, heroically died for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Nguyen Xuan Truong joined the army in July 1977, and later fought in battles to protect the southwestern border and fought in the Vi Xuyen front, Ha Giang province. He was wounded twice, in 1978 in Tay Ninh and in 1979 in Cambodia, suffering mild traumatic brain injury, vision loss in both eyes and hearing loss in both ears.
He was discharged from the army in March 1991. After returning home, he opened a fine art stone workshop to create jobs for 10 local workers.
Truong has 2 daughters, both have master's degrees. They are now working as math teacher and doctor. Truong and his family have always been exemplary in observing the Party and State's policies and programs, making many contributions to the locality and raising his children to be useful contributors for society. He was one of five delegates of Hanoi to meet General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day.
In a meeting with the city’s mayor, Vi Xuyen war veteran Nguyen Xuan Truong recounted the memories of the heroic fighting to protect the border in Vi Xuyen, where many soldiers lost their lives for the country and their remains have not been found even today.
On behalf of the city's leaders, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh expressed his deep gratitude to the great merits of veterans and wounded soldiers in the cause of national liberation.
Thanh said over the years, the city has always paid special attention to the work of taking care of people with meritorious services. These activities are held on a regular basis.
On Invalids and Martyrs' Day of July 27, everywhere in the city, there are activities to remember the merits of heroes and martyrs, and people with meritorious services.
Thanh expressed joy that the Truong and his family has continued contributing for socio-economic development of the hometown and the city. He wished Truong and his family good health, continues to be an example for locals.
Touched by the attention of the city's leaders, war veteran Nguyen Xuan Truong expressed his thanks to the authorities of Hanoi. At the same time, Truong affirmed the determination that he and his family will continue to strive and be exemplary in life, contributing to building a richer and more beautiful homeland.
