Trinh Cong Son street to become a walking zone from October 10 (11/08/2017)
HNP – Ha Noi will pilot the pedestrian street at Trinh Cong Son Street from October 10 on the occasion of 63th anniversary of Ha Noi Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – 2017), according to the People’ Committee of Tay Ho District.
Trinh Cong Son Street.
Trinh Cong Son street, named after the famous late composer, covers Alley 431 on Au Co street and Alley 612 on Lac Long Quan road.
Regular music nights featuring songs written by Trinh Cong Son will be held at the 2,000-square-meter outdoor stage, together with other traditional art forms such as quan ho (love duet) singing and water puppet shows at lotus ponds around the zone.
Additionally, approximately 50-60 booths simulating the traditional architecture of Ha Noi Old Quarter and Hoi An ancient town will be arranged along the walking street, selling souvenirs, food and refreshments for visitors.
The walking space will be organized from 7.30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week.
The idea of turning the street into a pedestrian area with space dedicated to art performances and food stalls has received support from most of 300 households living along the street.
The walking street will be piloted for some time before further adjustments are made if necessary to ensure it becomes a long-standing Ha Noi attraction.
Organizing walking streets at weekends around Hoan Kiem Lake has been welcomed by local residents and tourists. It has created a new space for cultural activities and entertainment for both locals and international visitors to the capital city.
In upcoming time, the walking streets will be implemented scientifically and orderly to turn it into an exciting cultural space.
