Hanoi to encourage development of rural sectors (06/12/2019)

HNP - Hanoi People’s Council approved a resolution promoting the development of rural sectors and traditional craft villages in Hanoi on December 4.  

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Chu Phu My makes a statement at the meeting.

Rural sectors and traditional craft villages covered by the resolution are those  recognized by Hanoi People’s Committee, as well as individuals and organizations responsible for the management and development of rural sectors and traditional craft villages. 
 
Under the resolution, policies supporting rural sectors and traditional craft villages include: 
 
Firstly, supporting the evaluation of environmental impacts. Villages that are recognized as traditional craft village must undergo an evaluation of environmental impacts under Decree No. 18/2015/ND-CP of the government, for which, Hanoi would support VND200 million (US$8,647) for each village to carry out the evaluation. 
 
Secondly, supporting brand building and registering collective ownership for brand. This would include training for establishing and promoting brands; providing consultation to setup and promote brands for traditional craft villages; naming brands and designing logo, and systems of identifications to recognize brands for each village; supporting marketing and promoting brands activities; supporting the legal process to register the collective ownership for brands in Vietnam and major export markets of Hanoi. 
 
The maximum financial support would be VND100 million (US$4,323) for each content, and each village is eligible to register a maximum of five contents. 
 
As of present, Hanoi has 308 traditional craft villages recognized by Hanoi People’s Committee, including 233, or 75.65% of the total, subject to evaluation of environmental impacts under Decree No.18/2015/ND-CP dated February 14, 2015 of the government.
