Hanoi Mayor attends opening ceremony of new academic year at HUST (19:42 15/10/2020)

HNP - Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh attended the opening ceremony of academic year 2020 – 2021 at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) on October 15.

This is the first year that the HUST adopted recruitment approach based on three methods, while the university’s entrance score remains the highest among technical universities in Vietnam. Notably, nearly 60% of students with score in the top 0.01% in the Group A00 (mathematics, physics, chemistry) nationwide chose the HUST. Additionally, many valedictorians also chose the HUST as the destination for their 4-year university career. 
Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh expressed his honor to attend the opening ceremony of a new academic year at the HUST on behalf of the Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue. 
Over the past years, thanks to the strong advancement of technologies and sciences, the HUST has been one of the top universities in Vietnam pushing for a comprehensive reform in training and education. The goal of the process has been finalized to better meet the growing demands of the process of industrialization, modernization, and global integration. 
Moreover, there have been significant improvements in the quality of lecturers at the HUST, a key factor ensuring high quality of training and education. 
Anh referred to a statement from the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President Nguyen Phu Trong that the country is at its best conditions, while the Industry 4.0 is opening a new era for new technologies that could exert  a major impacts on production and business activities. 
As such, new technological advancement would be optimized to support the process of production, distribution, consumption, and management, among others. 
The Hanoi’s mayor expected the HUST to continue focusing on education and development of science and technology. 
Anh said the students that are at the ceremony would not only decide their own future, but also of the country, hoping them to overcome any challenges in pursuing successes in life. 
At the ceremony, Anh also presented the book titled “Never give up” from Nick Vujicic to three outstanding students with disabilities.
