The event saw the attendance of Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee; Assoc Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan, PCC alternate member, Editor-in-chief of the Communist Review and member of the Central Theoretical Council; Nguyen Van Phong, Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Education and Communications Commission; Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee; Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council, among others.
In her opening speech, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang said Hanoi, as a capital, is the political, administrative, cultural, scientific, educational and economic center of the country.
With thousand years of civilization, Hanoi has been awarded the titles of "Heroic Capital", and "City of Creation", Hang emphasized.
According to Hang, during the capital’s construction and development, the Party organization, authorities and people of Hanoi have always attached great importance to fostering culture which is placed at the centre of their development strategies, helping the city harmonize economic growth with socio-cultural development in the context of knowledge economy and the fourth industrial revolution.

The workshop is a forum for scientists and experts to share their opinions, and offer their solutions for the development of Hanoi into a creative city. It is also the opportunity to be well aware of the leading role of the capital city across spheres.
At the workshop, experts and scientists affirmed the value of Hanoi’s culture, and highlighted the role of cultural resources in the city’s socio-economic development, as well as the building of a creative city. They also outlined groups of solutions to promote cultural values in the development strategies.
According to Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Hanoi should be well aware of role, position and significance of culture in life, and must translate it into policies and institutions.
He underscored the importance to build a contingent of all-level cadres, artists, intellectuals and staff working in culture.
Raising his opinion at the event, Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung, member of the Central Council of Literature and Art Theory and Criticism, said Hanoi holds huge potential of long-standing and diverse culture. Therefore, the capital city needs to take advantage of the resource, he urged, asking for special attention to development of cultural industries.
“Hanoi should consider promoting its cultural strength as a strategic breakthrough in its development”, Dung suggested the municipal authorities.
Making conclusion at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy hailed recommendations and solutions by the scientists.
All are expected to help Hanoi bring into full play cultural resources to build the capital city into a hub of Vietnam's creativity, as well as a creative capital of Southeast Asia, he added.
Quy informed the city would cooperate with the Communist Review and the media outlets to disseminate policies issued by authorities and perfect institutions as a legal platform for implementation in the time ahead.
