Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the Department of Education and Training Chu Xuan Dung pointed out the competition was an occasion for students to share and enrich their knowledge in maths and science.
He also highly appreciated the contestants’ efforts.
Vietnamese students won 15 gold, 14 silver and seven bronze medals at the 16th IMSO in 2019.
The organizing board awarded a total of 127 medals in maths and 106 in science.
The IMSO is an annual maths and science contest in English for students under the age of 13 worldwide.
Under the theme “Thinking - Innovation - Outstanding Skills”, the IMSO 2019 drew the participation of 1,725 attendees, including more than 700 contestants from 24 countries and territories worldwide, including Cambodia, China, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan (China), Thailand, and the Republic of Korea.
International candidates compete in Group A, while, students from 22 districts and towns in Hanoi compete in Group B.
