Hanoi’s economy keeps stable growth rate (13:47 12/06/2019)

At the meeting, members of the Municipal People’s Committee, and representatives of the city’s entities and localities voiced their feedback on several contents submitted to the mid-2019 meeting of the Municipal People's Council, such as Resolution on adjusting and supplementing 2019 capital expenditure plan, Resolution on investment policy of projects under the city's mid-term public investment plan for 2016-2020, Resolution on investment of urban railway 3.2 (Hanoi Station – Hoang Mai), among others. 
Participants also gave their opinions to reports on outcomes of socio-economic development, ensuring national security and defense of Hanoi, and the city’s budget revenue in the first half of 2019 as well as key missions in the last month of the year. 
According to a draft report on socio-economic development, in the first half of the year, the city’s economy recorded the high growth. GRDP rose by 7.21%. The total retail sales of goods and services was estimated to increase by 10.7%. The number of tourists to Hanoi was estimated at 14.4 million, up 9.5%, including 3.3 million foreign visitors, up 10.6%. Total revenue from tourism was estimated at VND50.3 trillion, up 29.8%. 
Moreover, the city has attached importance to improving trade environment, business development and investment attraction. Particularly, Hanoi jumped four ranks in Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) since 2017 to position itself in the ninth place. Foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction reached US$ 5.3 billion. A total of 13,690 new businesses were established with the total registered capital of over VND143 trillion. 
Total revenue collection was estimated at over VND132 trillion, accounting for 50.2% of the estimate, meanwhile, local budget expenditure was estimated at VND33,818 billion, accounting for 33.5% of the estimate. 
Also, Hanoi has made positive changes in urban management and development, housing development, land management, natural resource exploitation, and environmental protection. 
In terms of socio-economic development, the city has strengthened dissemination of the two codes of conduct under diversified ways; focused on preparations for Formula One racing; paid special attention to education and training; enhanced the application of science and technology advance toward  the goal of building smart city; promoted administrative reform, among others.
Besides, social welfare as well as social - political safety and order has been ensured; foreign affairs has been promoted. 
However, there have been still some shortcomings and weaknesses in fulfilling the tasks. 
In the last months of 2019, Hanoi will keep effectively working out 76 missions and solutions at Action Program No. 12/CTr-UBND of the Municipal People’s Committee on major missions and measures for socio-economic development and budget estimate in 2019.
Furthermore, the city will also drastically executing 9 key missions, as follow: taking drastic measures to fulfill the set targets; preventing African swine fever virus from further spreading; offering measures to ensure food resources in the end of the year; strengthening land clearance to speed up the construction of major projects; elaborating Hanoi city planning; working out Directive 09/CT-UBND dated June 7, 2019 of the Municipal People’s Committee Chairman on more measures to improve the performance of the city’s government; carrying out tasks in socio-cultural sector, ensuring political security, social order and safety, among others.
