According to a report given by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien at the teleconference, as of May 12, 2019, the total number of culled pigs amounted to more than 1.2 million.
Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that localities which have strictly implemented guiding documents of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, meet disease prevention and control requirements and minimize losses.
However, some localities have not yet conducted the culling of infected pigs in a timely or thorough manner.

Addressing the event, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu said that, over the past time, the city’s functional forces have positively taken part in preventing the disease.
The city leader also proposed the Central level to release reasonable policies in the fight against the disease, and hoped functional agencies to support large-scale livestock farms suffering great losses due to the epidemic.
Making conclusion at the conference, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung appreciated efforts made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural, relevant agencies and people in putting the disease under control.
According to the Deputy PM, since the outbreak of the disease, the Government and localities across the country have drastically taken measures to fight against the disease, thus initially preventing the spread of the epidemic, and minimizing losses.
