The event was co-chaired by member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Vice Head of the municipal Election Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen; and Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council and Head of the municipal Election Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.
In attendance were members of the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Commission: Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)‘s Hanoi committee Nguyen Lan Huong; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Disciplinary Control Commission Hoang Trong Quyet; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission Nguyen Quang Duc; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Communication and Education Commission Bui Huyen Mai; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Doan Toan; Vice Chairmen of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son and Nguyen Trong Dong; Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha; Commander of the Capital High Command Nguyen Quoc Duyet; and Director of the Department of Public Security Nguyen Hai Trung.
Giving a report of the municipal Election Committee, Director of the Department of Home Affairs Vu Thu Ha said that all preparations for the upcoming elections have been carried out in line with the law and in a timely manner.
According to her, all-level VFF’s committees have jointly organized meetings between election candidates and voters.
As of May 14, all 49 candidates running for seats in the 15th National Assembly of Hanoi finished meeting with local voters as well as presenting their action plans if selected.
Meanwhile, 160 candidates for the election of deputies to the municipal People’s Council and 1,054 others for People’s Council at district level, tenure 2021-2026, will complete their meetings on May 17.
Especially, the municipal Election Committee has issued guiding documents on fighting COVID-19 at polling stations.
The city has also mapped out plans to hold the elections safely amid the COVID-19 outbreaks.
Commending the effort of local authorities in preparing for the elections, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council urged the localities to review all preparations, with the focus on dealing with complaints and denunciations related to the elections.
Concluding the meeting, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen asked for stronger communication on right and duty of every citizen under diversified ways.
She urged local authorities to review the electoral rolls, especially voters in areas under lockdown, to ensure their voting rights.
The task forces must work hard to ensure safety during the elections, Tuyen ordered.
