Chairman Anh referred to instructions of the Prime Minister and the municipal Party Committee that protecting public health is the city’s utmost priority.
At the working session with the authority of Hanoi on July 19, the PM also asked ministries and sectors to join hands with the capital to preserve achievements reached in the fight against the novel coronavirus, he added.
The mayor stated, over the past time, the municipal authorities and people have exerted every effort to combat the pandemic and attained the initial success.
However, Hanoi is facing the complex situation of the disease, he noted, asking the whole city to take strong and drastic measures to curb the pandemic for the time being, and continue to pursue the twin goals.
According to him, since the fourth wave of the pandemic hit the country on April 27, Hanoi has recorded 486 COVID-19 cases, including 296 detected in the community. The city is working hard to put nine coronavirus community infection clusters under control. Now, there are 46 blockaded areas in the area.
In addition to preventing growing risks of COVID-19 transmission from arrivals in the city, Hanoi has conducted mass testing for high-risk groups to timely detect suspected cases.
Being aware of the high risk of coronavirus spreading in Hanoi currently, Anh called on the entire political system and residents to stay vigilant against pandemic, and seriously comply with the dispatch.
Highlighting the high consensus and support of citizens in the COVID-19 fight, Anh encouraged them to continue joining hand with the city to stamp out the pandemic and so as life would go back to normal soon.
The locals should strictly follow the Ministry of Health’s the 5K message everywhere, he ordered, affirming that the municipal authorities would create the best conditions for people’s lives.
He urged competent authorities to enhance inspection and impose tough punishments on cases violating COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.
The chairman required specialized agencies and relevant units to ensure absolute safety for vaccination.
The city would do its utmost to increase vaccination coverage and reach herd immunity, he stressed.
Anh ordered strong communication on the current COVID-19 situation and preventive measures among local residents to raise public awareness about the pandemic fight.
