Hanoi continues with strong measures against COVID-19 (22:06 21/07/2021)


HNP - Departments, sectors and district-level authorities in Hanoi should continue to take strong and drastic measures to fight the pandemic, and tighten discipline in COVID-19 prevention and control due to the complicated situation of the pandemic in recent days.


Overview of the meeting.


That requirement was made at the online meeting of the Hanoi Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control with district- and commune-level authorities on discussing measures to curb the pandemic in the city.
 
The meeting was chaired by member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh, who is also the head of the municipal  Steering Committee.
 
In attendance were Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee and Deputy Head of the municipal Steering Committee Chu Xuan Dung; and Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Manh  Quyen.
 
Since the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country on April 27, Hanoi has confirmed 725 coronavirus infection cases, including 296 detected in the community in 24 districts.
 
Since July 5, new COVID-19 community clusters have been found in the city, epidemiological factors of some of them have not  been yet identified.
 
There are 45 areas under blockade in 17 districts now, with around 5,400 residents. All people returning to Hanoi from Ho Chi Minh City and other pandemic-hit localities have been tested for SAR-CoV-2 as regulated.
 
The on-duty forces at 22 checkpoints have worked around the clock to control the flow of all vehicles and people entering or exiting the city in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
 
200 COVID-19 patients are currently being treated in medical facilities of Hanoi, namely, Bac Thang Long Hospital (34 cases), Duc Giang General Hospital (107), Thanh Nhan Hospital (59).
 
 Hanoi is working to prepare 5,000 hospital beds for COVID-19 patients as the pandemic is developing complicatedly and unpredictably in the city.
 
Regarding concentrated isolation, the city has set up 20 concentrated quarantine camps for F1 contacts in 19 districts, which are accommodating 2,128 people. 
 
District-level authorities have also planed to establish 32 concentrated isolation facilities able to accommodate  8,144 people, while preparing to increase the capacity to 40,000  as guided by the city.
Special attention has also been paid to the COVID-19 vaccination progress. So far, more than 201,524 people have been vaccinated, mainly frontline forces of the fight against the pandemic, workers in industrial parks and other priority groups.
 
The Department of Health is planning to carry out the largest-ever COVID-19 vaccination campaign in a bid to reach herd immunity against the pandemic.
 
At the meeting, Tran Ngoc Duong, Deputy Director of the Department of Public Security, said that the police are striving to fulfill set tasks, including the establishment of 22 checkpoints at the city's major gateways to stop the COVID-19 spread.
 
The police are trying their best to avoid traffic congestion at these checkpoints, and closely inspect the COVID-19 prevention work on all vehicles from the epidemic hit areas, he added.
 
According to Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, since the municipal authorities issued Dispatch No. 15/CD-UBND, her agency has cooperated with relevant units to ensure the sufficient supply of essential goods for local residents.
 
The Department in collaboration with the distributors worked out a plan to supply essential goods to people amid the COVID-19 outbreaks.
 
Local businesses have increased the stockpile of essential commodities by 30-50%, Lan stated, noting that the locals should stay calm, not stockpile goods and avoid gatherings at distribution systems so as to prevent disease transmission.
