The event saw the attendance of Pham Quang Nghi, former Politburo member and former Secretary of the municipal Party Committee; Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the VFF’s municipal committee; and Ha Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.
At the event, the family of Mr. Pham Quang Nghi, former Politburo member and former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee contributed VND100 million; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nha, Abbot of Tran Quoc pagoda, donated VND50 million; the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - Hanoi gave VND200 million; and Eximbank donated VND500 million.
TMT Automobile Joint Stock Company donated VND3 billion. Of the sum, VND2 billion is raised to the COVID-19 vaccine fund and VND1 billion spent to buy vaccine for the injection of its employees.
Addressing the handover ceremony, Chairwoman of the VFF’s Hanoi committee Nguyen Lan Huong said that with the effort of the entire political system and people, Vietnam and Hanoi in particular has made a success story in its fight against novel coronavirus.
According to her, since the pandemic became more complicated, Party officials, members and people have joined hands to stamp out the disease, pursue the dual task of fighting the pandemic and boosting socio-economic development as well as return life to normal.
Highly speaking of the benefactors’ donations, Huong called on public support for the fund so as to administer free vaccines to all people and soon reach herd immunity, which is considered as a fundamental, long-term, strategic and decisive solution to get rid of the pandemic.
