Hanoi marks 55th anniversary of traditional day of Vietnam youth volunteer force (20:27 29/10/2020)


HNP - Hanoi’s Association of Former Vietnamese Youth Volunteers on October 28 held 55th anniversary of the Vietnam youth volunteer force during the war against the US. 



At the event, Chairman of Hanoi’s Association of Former Vietnamese Youth Volunteers Do Quoc Phong said during the war against the US, the Vietnamese youth volunteer force, including those from Hanoi, had made significant contribution to ensure the final victory of the country. 
 
Right after the unification of Vietnam, former Vietnamese youth volunteers continued to stay active in the efforts against poverty and supporting the government in realizing social beneficiaries for youth volunteers during the war. Therefore, thousands of former youth volunteers have received one-time financial support, regular support, while those sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country were acknowledged as martyrs. 
 
To date, Hanoi’s authorities have completed providing social beneficiaries for 97.34% of remaining cases for former youth volunteers. Thanks to the support from the Party and the government, former youth volunteers were able to receive preferential treatment from the state, in which thousands of solidarity houses for former youth volunteers were built or repaired. 
 
Additionally, the Hanoi’s Association of Former Vietnamese Youth Volunteers have initiated the campaign of “Families of former youth volunteers help each other in poverty reduction”, patriotic emulation campaign with themes “building blocks of families of former youth volunteers having great business performance”. 
 
These events have played a key role in helping many families of former youth volunteers escape poverty and raise their living standards. 
 
Vice Permanent Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen congratulated the Hanoi’s Association of Former Vietnamese Youth Volunteers for its major contribution during the war and also in the development of the city. 
 
Tuyen expected the Association to continue support former youth volunteers, while encouraging them to contribute their experience and expertise for the development of Hanoi.
