Hanoi Party Committee announces the outcomes of the 17th congress (08:31 29/10/2020)


HNP - The Hanoi Party Committee’s Standing Board held a conference on October 27 to make public the outcomes of the 17th congress for the 2020-2025 tenure.

The event was co-chaired by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.

 

In attendance were Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter Nguyen Lan Huong, Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Disciplinary Control Hoang Trong Quyet, Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Nguyen Quang Duc, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son, Commander of the Capital High Command Nguyen Quoc Duyet, along with leaders of the city’s entities and heads of all-level education and communication committees.
 
The event drew the participation of more than 19,000 Party officials and members from districts, towns, communes and wards through video conferencing.
 
At the conference, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong gave full information of the city’s 17th Party Congress.

Phong said, for the event to be a success, the municipal Party Committee has focused on  ensuring the successful organization of assemblies of Party committees at all levels, while issuing Resolution 15 and Directive 15 to consolidate Party organizations and deal with concerned issues, and paying special attention to building new style rural areas and improving local residents’ living standards.
 
The documents for the congress have been built on the outcomes of eight research projects under the Program No 20-Ctr/TU issued on February 13, 2018 by the Hanoi Party Committee’s Standing Board. 
 
Underlining new features and major orientations in the 2020-2025 term, the Deputy Secretary said setting example would be the priority, together with arousing the will, promoting the tradition of thousand-year civilization and heroism as well as the power of great unity all people.
 
More effort should be made to build a clean and strong Party organization, and enhance innovation, creativity and international integration, among others.
 
He emphasized that the goals set for the next five years demonstrate the responsibility and determination of Hanoi in promoting the position and role of the capital city.
 
According to him, in 2021-2025, Hanoi set the target of  achieving GRDP growth  of 7.5-8%; the share of the digital economy in GRDP is expected to reach 30%; 80-85% of public schools will meet national standards; 75-80% of laborers will be trained; there will be no households living under the poverty line; 100% of rural districts will meet criteria set for new style rural areas; 100% of residents in urban and rural  areas will have access to safe water, among others.
 
To fulfill the above-mentioned goals, the city is determined to successfully carry out five major missions, three breakthroughs, and 14 key issues for its development in the period 2020-2025, the Party official noted.
 
Concerning the election work at the congress, Phong informed that 71 members have been elected for the Executive Board of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. Politburo member Vuong Dinh Hue was re-elected Hanoi Party chief, with 100% of the votes. 
 
Sixteen people have been chosen for the Standing Committee, of them, four have been elected deputy secretaries.
 
Also 12 people have been elected to seat on the municipal Party Committee’s Disciplinary Control Commission.
 
Sixty official delegates have been selected to attend the 13th National Party Congress and five alternate delegates.
