During the meeting, Ambassador Yamada Takio expressed his satisfaction with the recent progress in the friendship and cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.
He thanked the Hanoi government for creating favorable conditions for Japanese citizens and experts to live and work in the city. Additionally, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Ambassador expressed his wish for closer coordination to expedite the progress of various bilateral cooperation projects in areas such as urban railways, smart cities, and the Yen Xa sewage treatment plant project.
He also pledged to strengthen the investment cooperation between Japan and Vietnam in the future.
In response, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador's frank and transparent remarks. The Chairman acknowledged that relations between Japan and Vietnam, as well as between Hanoi and Japanese localities, have developed positively in recent years. He suggested that the Ambassador continue to encourage Japanese businesses to invest in various sectors in Hanoi, such as urban development, transportation, agriculture and tourism.
The local government has made significant progress in addressing the issues raised by the Japanese side regarding investment and cooperation in implementing the Smart City project. Chairman Tran Sy Thanh has asked relevant departments to work closely with Japanese enterprises to speed up the progress of ongoing projects, ensure proper planning, and effectively organize events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
