In Havana, Cuba, the delegation had meetings with leaders of the Cuban Communist Party, held talks with the Party Committee of Havana, worked with the Central Committee for External Relations of the Communist Party of Cuba, and met with leaders of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
On November 21, a meeting between a high-ranking delegation of Hanoi and leaders of the Havana Party Committee took place in a friendly atmosphere. The two sides together shared and updated information on the socio-economic situation of each capital; exchange experiences on Party building work; discuss and agree on orientations and measures to further promote and improve the efficiency of cooperation between Hanoi and Havana in potential fields.
Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, Member of the Central Committee, First Secretary of the Havana Party Committee, was pleased to welcome the Hanoi delegation, considering it a meaningful visit to contribute to bilateral relations;
He suggested this is a practical activity right after the successful visit of Cuba’s Prime Minister to Vietnam on September 28.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen affirmed that Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular attach great importance to the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba. The Party Committee, Government and people of Hanoi always respect and strive to constantly build and develop the friendship and cooperation relationship at local level between the two capitals - Hanoi and Havana to new heights.
Through the exchange, the two leaders agreed on the importance of Party building work, the external relations through the Party channel and the need to strengthen exchanges of delegations at all levels in the coming time between the two City Party Committees and agencies towards the goal of building a stronger, more effective and efficient Party base.
The two sides also agreed that it is necessary to continue promoting the obtained cooperation results and effectively expand partnership to new sectors such as health, agriculture, commerce, culture, education, and consider moving towards the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Hanoi and Havana for a new period in 2023.
In exchanging and updating the latest socio-economic situation of Cuba and Havana, Standing Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Nguyen Thi Tuyen said that the Party Committee, government and people of the capital always monitor the situation in Cuba and Havana, and would like to share the difficulties and problems faced by the capital city, especially food security through the gift of 2,000 tons of rice to support the Party committee, government and people of Havana.
The delegation also extended an official invitation of the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee to the First Secretary of the Havana Party Committee to visit Hanoi at the soonest time.
On the same day, the delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba, and conveyed greetings and best wishes from the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to Roberto Morales Ojeda, Politburo member, Organization Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Yudí M. Rodríguez Hernández, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Services Department.
Through information and exchange on the socio-economic situation of each country, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen congratulated the success of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in 2021 and the achievements in controlling Covid-19 and implementing socio-economic recovery measures.
At the same time, she affirmed that Vietnam appreciates the precious sentiments and timely support of Cuba and its people in responding to the pandemic, especially in the early supply and delivery of vaccines to Vietnam, as well as its willing to send a medical team to support Vietnam’s fight against the pandemic. Cooperation between the two countries during the pandemic is a living proof of the strong bond between the two countries, she added.
Vietnam always affirms the consistent stance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam in constantly consolidating and enhancing the special friendship and solidarity between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Cuba.
On this basis, Tuyen promised to continue directing the strengthening of mutual visits, maintaining regular channels for the exchange of information between the two Parties; promote friendly contacts between people, especially between the young generations of the two countries, to achieve a deeper understanding and awareness of this special friendship.
