Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022 opens (08:45 14/11/2022)


HNP - On November 11, at the walking space of Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity, the Hanoi People's Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Architects held a ceremony to kick off the 2022 Hanoi Creative Design Festival, scheduled to end on November 20, 2022.  



Attending the event were Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung; Chief Representative of UNESCO Office in Hanoi Christan Manhart; together with representatives of central ministries, departments and branches; Ambassadors, Heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations, artisans, artists, entrepreneurs in the field of creative design.

The event was sponsored by the UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi, the UN Human Settlement Program (UN-HABITAT) and the Vietnam Association of Handicraft Exporters to continue promoting its potential strengths of the capital in creative industries, raising public awareness as well as promoting connections, expanding cooperation and business between organizations, experts, domestic and international businesses in the category of design and creative industries.

As the national political-administrative, cultural, scientific, educational and international transactions center, Hanoi plays an important role in the history and development of the country.

After 10 years of being registered as a City for Peace, Hanoi officially joins the Creative Cities Network of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - UNESCO in the field of design.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said: "Over the years, the city has always been active in linking and cooperating with provinces and cities throughout the country, at the same time maintain and develop international cooperation relationships, gradually strengthen and expand foreign relations, cultural diplomacy, exchange and cooperation with cities and capitals in the world, especially those that are member of UNESCO's Network of Creative Cities".

"Especially, in order to effectively implement and follow the schedule of 6 commitments with UNESCO when joining the Network of Creative Cities, Hanoi has implemented many activities associated with promoting the creative tradition of Thang Long people - Hanoi  which is based on more than a thousand years of history by promoting the development of new cultural values ​​in cultural - economic - social development programs; actively and persistently implementing the Resolution "On development cultural industry in the capital in the period of 2021-2025, with orientation to 2030, with a vision to 2045", creating clear and positive movements throughout the city," emphasized Hong.

According to Christan Manhart, Chief Representative of UNESCO Office in Hanoi, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022 with a variety of display activities, exhibitions, seminars, art performances... is a great opportunity to bringing people together, celebrating the fruits of creativity. Hanoi, with its outstanding cultural heritage and many creative people, possesses great potential to use creativity as a catalyst for socio-economic development. “At the Festival, creative individuals once again showed how the spirit of innovation can contribute to building the City for the benefit of each of its citizens,” said Christan Manhart.

The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2022 is an annual activity, aiming to realize Hanoi's commitments to UNESCO. This year's festival is held with the largest scale ever, bringing together 25 creative art spaces with nearly 50 activities to visit, experience and interact in the form of exhibitions, displays and installations, talks, seminars, art performances.

Along with that, there were the presence of   50 artists participating in exhibitions; 300 performancing artists;   30 speakers in seminars.. and millions of interactions on mass media channels.

With the theme "Creativity and technology", the Festival is really an impressive cultural space, where the endless creativity from cultural resources is honored; a rendezvous for the creative community, artists, architects, and folk artisans can freely experience their talents, thereby continuing to inspire creativity in each person. In order to honor, promote and arouse creative design resources in the city, within the framework of the festival, the Organizing Committee will also launch a number of creative design contests for young creatives, to encourage young people's participation in the construction of future city spaces, such as: Dream House Contest; Quick Design Competition - Preserving and promoting Factory Heritage; Photo contest for teenagers "Hanoi from a different perspective"...
