Vice Chairman of City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen hopes that Belgimex Company will continue to support Hanoi in transferring advanced technology to develop 3B cows in Hanoi in particular and other provinces and cities in Vietnam in general.
Right at the cow farm, representatives of Hanoi Cattle Breeding Joint Stock Company (HLBC) and representatives of Belgimex Company signed a memorandum of understanding on continuing cooperation in completing the process of transferring 3B cattle breed to Vietnam and importing this breed in order to continue to improve the cow herd of Hanoi and other provinces of the Red River Delta.
Willy Borus - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Foreign Trade and Agriculture of Wallonia region highly appreciated the cooperation in technology transfer of 3B cattle raising between the two Belgian and Vietnamese companies, especially when Belgium and Vietnam have established a strategic partnership in agriculture since 2018.
Willy Borus affirmed that with its strength in high-tech agriculture, the Wallonia region is ready to promote cooperation with Vietnam in the development of livestock varieties.
Christophe Cailteux, representative of GA Belgimex, said that Belgium leads the world in beef, pig and sheep breeds, with a high proportion of meat and quality.
With its strengths, Belgimex is willing to expand cooperation with HLBC company to develop 3B cattle raising with high technology.
For his part, Bui Dai Phong, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of HLBC, said that 10 years ago, the company bred 3B cows. This crossbred cow breed has a fast growth rate, adapts to Vietnam's living conditions, so it has quickly been favored by farmers, helping to develop the economy, create jobs and high income.
Beef 3B is a beef cattle with white-skinned appearance and gray-blue patches, developed muscles, especially the hamstrings and buttocks, bred since 1919. At maturity, the male cow weighs between 700 and 800 kg, the female between 600 and 700 kg, and after three or four years, some weigh up to 1.4 tons.
Since 2001, HLBC Company has conducted research on this breed to develop it in Vietnam. In February 2012, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the project to apply the research results of crossbreeding 3B cows into F1 meat-oriented hybrid cows in Hanoi and put the cow raising model into practice. 3B piloted farming in eight districts: Ba Vi, Soc Son, Gia Lam, Phu Xuyen, Dan Phuong, Phuc Tho and Thach That.
So far, more than 30,000 Vietnamese farmers have participated in the 3B cow breeding program, and more than 260,000 F1 calves have been developed. Many farmers become billionaires when raising this breed because of its high economic efficiency. Each of these "muscular" cows can gain weight from 1 kg-2 kg / day with the percentage of meat accounting for 75%. Currently, in Vietnam, there are 3B high yielding cow farms with the scale of 100-200 cows.
