Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed that over past 55 years since Viet Nam and Laos established diplomatic relations, the Party, Government and people of Ha Noi always respect the comprehensive co-operation and friendship with Laos as well as Vientiane. The comprehensive strategic partnership between two capital cities has been developing positively, bringing benefits to the two countries.

On behalf of the Party Committee, the Government and the people of Ha Noi, Chairman Chung expressed his sincere thanks to the Party and State of Laos for awarding the First-Class Medal to Ha Noi; adding that this is a precious recognition of the Laos Government not only for a specific bilateral cooperation project but also for the special cooperation between the two capital cities.

"Ha Noi hopes to closely collaborate, exchange information and experience and support each other with Laos in all fields to strengthen the bilateral ties between two cities; promote the development of each side, contributing to the stability and common development of Southeast Asia," Chairman Chung added.
