The upward momentum is still being maintained, manifested by the positive growth signals in the first quarter of 2017 as well as the outcomes of the implementation of the city’s socio-economic tasks over the past three months.
So far this year, Ha Noi has closely followed the tasks set out in the socio-economic development plan and the state budget estimates for 2017.
Practical conferences and meetings
In an effort to improve the business climate, encourage startups and innovation and develop businesses, Ha Noi has strengthened support for investors and enterprises in Q1, from business registration to the handling of difficulties during the implementation process.
The city held meetings with Canadian and Japanese companies operating in the locality. The municipal leaders hosted constant receptions for visiting heads of state, leaders of countries and international organizations, representatives from trade promotion agencies, businesses and experts. Through their meetings and discussions, both sides agreed on a number of cooperation and investment opportunities across all fields and directed the implementation.
Ha Noi’s PCI for 2016 scored a record high of 60.74 points (up 1.74 points), ranking 14th among 63 cities and provinces, up 10 places compared to 2015, promoting the city to the group with good management quality (surpassing 60 points).
Creating jobs and caring for the poor towards social security
In Q1, Ha Noi provided employment for roughly 36,500 people, equivalent to 24% of the plan (152,000) and up 4% over the same period of last year. The city also approved 650 projects using VND120 billion (US$5.28 million) in loans from the National Fund to handle employment issues, creating jobs for 3,300 workers.
Synchronous measures and impressions in management work were manifested through the specific outcomes attained in the fields of education, care for public health, science and technology, culture, information and communication, the construction of a smart city and renovation of urban landscape. Notably, Ha Noi expanded international healthcare cooperation, particularly in training, application of new technologies in medicine and development of modern medical facilities. The high-tech medical center specializing in endoscopic surgery and digestive treatment has officially put into use and is operating effectively.
There are hopes that with such drastic directions, specific steps and substantive actions, the municipal leaders will continue receiving consensus from the people, businesses and the entire society and bring into full play the power of the great national unity bloc in order to realize the socio-economic development tasks set out for the year.
