Hopping on the electric car for a short city tour is a good way to get a flavor of the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake area and West Lake area. To use the service, you need to buy ticket in advance at ticket stall on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, a street right next to Hoan Kiem Lake. There are a number of electric cars parking here.
There are three routes, two of them around the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, and the last one around West Lake. A route is about 7 kilometers long, and consists of several old streets, historic sites and tourists attractions of Ha Noi. An electric car can carry maximum 7 passengers; no bulky luggage is allowed.
It takes 35 minutes for a trip without stopping at any place, and 60 minutes for a trip with stops. Price is currently VND200,000 for a 35-minute trip, and VND300,000 for a 60-hour trip; free of charge for children under 3 years old. The trip will start any time when the car is at full capacity.
Double-decker tourist bus
The first double-decker bus to ferry tourists around the city started its trial run in Ha Noi on 30th June 2017. After proving success after trial time, Ha Noi Transportation Corporation (Transerco) officially put it into operation on 30th May 2018.
The double-decker tourist bus, known as City Tour or Hop on-Hop off, bring customers covers a route of 25 streets with 13 stops, and taking visitors to the top 30 local tourist attractions of Ha Noi, such as such as the Turtle Tower, One Pillar Pagoda, and Hanoi Flag Tower.
Each double-decker bus can accommodate 80 passengers. It is equipped with modern technology such as GPS, automatic transmission system, and meets Euro4 emission standard. The low floor is convenient for elderly, children or people with disabilities; there are devices to fix wheelchairs to the floor, making it accessible to the ones with disabilities. The bus offers 14 seats at the lower storey and over 30 seats on the upper storey, and has a retractable roof to shelter tourists from the sun or rain.
The buses offers wireless internet connectivity on vehicles, USB charging ports, monitor, and surveillance camera system for passenger safety. They are also equipped with an automatic multilingual narration system in many languages, providing useful information of Ha Noi for different nationalities on the journey. Visitors can choose to join or stop the tour at any bus stop on the route.
Buses run from 9AM to 5PM every 30 minutes. Price is VND300,000 for a 4 hour trip, VND450,000 for a 24 hour trip andVND650,000 for a 48 hour trip; tourists can use the service anytime as long as the ticket is available.
After Da Nang, Ha Noi is the second locality in Viet Nam to run double-decker buses for sightseeing.
