1. Bach Thao Park
Bach Thao means “hundreds of plants” and like its name, the park is one of the few green areas in the increasingly industrialized city of Ha Noi.
Bach Thao Park or Ha Noi Botanical Garden that is located behind Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum has been known as the green lung of the capital for more than 100 years.
Bach Thao is home to numerous kinds of trees that are typical for tropical rainforests like: coconut, palm, orchid, or banyan tree, etc. Two thirds are indigenous plants, and the left are imported from other tropical regions of Africa, America and Oceania. There are old big trees that take two or three people to encircle the trunk.
2. Thu Le Park
Also known as Ha Noi zoo, Thu Le Park is a popular place for families, especially those with young children.
Thu Le Park was constructed on 19 May 1975 and then opened to the public two years later. Thu Le Park has been well-known as another name Thu Le Zoo by most of the locals in Ha Noi, especially children. The park is a complex of Green Park, zoo and amusement park.

Situated in an enormous are of 29 hectares, Thu Le Zoo is an ideal place for walking tour since it is encompassed by lush green grasses and an exquisite collection of tree, small plants and flowers. Thanks to this, the park provides visitors relaxing glimpse as well as fresh air and beautiful landscape. The site is also chosen by many photographers as their source of innovation.
With its five exhibition areas, the zoo is now having 40 animal houses with more than 600 animals of more than 100 species. Among which, 40 species are listed in Viet Nam Red Book and many are gifts from Europe, Africa, America and Australia. Some rare animals being preserved here are Indo-Chinese tigers, lions, leopards, elephants, and hippos.
Besides sightseeing its scenery and animals, visitors might also attend more energetic outdoor activities in the park.
There are many trees and paved roads in the park. Besides the animals, such as: elephants, bears, horses, tigers, monkeys, etc, there are many rare fishes and animals which are taken from Africa, America, Europe, and Australia.
3. Thong Nhat Park
Thong Nhat Park is located next to Ha Noi Circus, about 15 minutes by bike to the Old Quarter.
The park covers an area of more than 50 hectares in Hai Ba Trung District, to the south of Hoan Kiem. It was inaugurated in 1960, at which time the country was divided; the park was named Thong Nhat which means ‘united’, expressing the hope of reunification. In 1980, on the 110th anniversary of Lenin’s birth, the name was changed to Lenin Park, but it was changed back to Thong Nhat later.

Although Thong Nhat Park is relatively small compared to other botanical parks in the world, its total area of 50ha providing an excellent play ground as well as a training place for physical exercises and sports of the locals. Hence, strolling around and sightseeing its landscape while breathing its fresh air should be a good idea. Encompassing the park is a vast area of lush grasses, high trees and colorful flowers.
Inside Thong Nhat Park lying a seven-hectare lake called “Bay Mau Lake” where people enhancing their heath by sailing swan boats and taking in cooling breeze. Couples may find their most peaceful and romantic together on the lake’s stream as well.
4. Yen So Park (Hoang Mai District)
It is not far from Ha Noi city center, Yen So Park with a lot of green and airy spaces is a favorite destination for those who want to temporarily escape from their daily stressful life.
The 323-hectare Yen So Park with leisure facilities was opened to the public on April 4, 2014.

The Gamuda Land Viet Nam has transformed the old run-down park into a well-maintained, lush and landscaped area with recreation facilities, including an art gallery, boathouse, amphitheatre, maze, a traditional village and numerous gardens.
The park is equipped with full of sanitation, water bar, bicycle rental service. Yen So Park is also a fun green spot for kids, creating a sense of liberal and broad, but still friendly and close to nature.
