Accordingly, over the past years, the management of food safety, catering services and street food has made positive changes. Notably, the awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, facilities with catering services have been improved remarkably. However, there have been a number of shortcomings and weaknesses which need removing in the coming time.
To enhance the assurance of food safety, catering services and street food, especially urban landscape and environmental sanitation, the Municipal People’s Committee requested districts, suburban districts, wards, communes, and towns to carry out key contents at Directive No. 08/CT-UBND dated April 14th, 2016 of the Municipal People’s Committee on strengthening the management of catering services, street food, including: enhancing the popularization to provide food safety knowledge and practice to food processors and businessman; asking facilities to fully implement food safety criteria; collecting daily waste; publicizing certificates of food safety, food safety commitments so as to make remarkable changes in ensuring food safety, environmental sanitation and urban landscape.
More efforts must be made to enhance inspection of facilities in localities; drastically handle cases violating food safety regulations and publicize them on mass media; proactively monitor the prevention of food poisoning, food-borne diseases and maintain the system against food poisoning from districts, suburban districts to communes, wards.
The Municipal People’s Committee assigned relevant departments and sectors, basing on set tasks, to proactively coordinate with People’s Committees of districts, towns to check, urge local agencies to strictly carry out the above-mentioned tasks; give a report on results at phase 1 before November 5th, 2018 to the Municipal People’s Committee as regulated.
