Accordingly, the Municipal People’s Committee released a number of documents to ask relevant departments, sectors, agencies, People’s Committees of districts, towns to strengthen the popularization of wildlife production; give guidelines to wildlife farming establishments as stipulated by law; enhance inspection and strictly handle violation cases related to wildlife protection in the area as stipulated by law; allocate funds to wildlife rescue activities of the Ha Noi Wildlife Rescue Center.
From October 1st, 2016 to December 15, 2017, the capital city organized eight training courses on wildlife management, protection, preservation and breeding with over 600 participants; distributed leaflets at schools, tourist sites, festivals so as to raise people’s awareness of wildlife protection, etc.
Besides, Ha Noi has cooperated with the Animals Asia Foundation to strengthen communication on captive bear management in Phuc Tho District via diversified methods. After all, three bears were transferred to the Ha Noi Wildlife Rescue Center as stipulated by law.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development checked and timely handled violation cases related to illegal trade and transportation of wildlife.
Particularly, from October 1, 2016 to December 15, 2017, the department penalized 16 cases with total fine of VND 191.4 million and seized wildlife individuals; coordinated with functional agencies to investigate and prosecute two violation cases; cooperated with the World Animal Protection to monitor and attach new electronic chips to all captive bears in the area, etc.
Ha Noi also has received and rescued a number of wildlife individuals as evidences confiscated from violation cases and coordinated with Forest Protection Agencies to release wildlife individuals to the natural environment after rescue.
