More effort to guarantee traffic safety and order in upcoming holidays (05:03 19/04/2019)


HNP - The Hanoi People’s Committee issued Official Letter No. 1460/UBND-DT on the tasks to meet people’s travel demand and ensure traffic safety and order in upcoming holidays, Reunification Day (April 30)  and International Labor Day (May 1). 


Accordingly, the Municipal People’s Committee requested departments, sectors, district/township People’s Committees and relevant units to fulfill assigned tasks. 
 
Particularly, the Department of Transport will take prime responsibility and coordinate with Hanoi Transport Corporation to work out measures to guarantee safety and quality of public transportation services and means to meet people’s demand on transport in the peak period; ensure environmental sanitation at bus stations; renew ticketing ways, enhance the application of e-tickets and make public ticket prices along the routes. 
 
Moreover, the department will strengthen inspections and take action to handle drivers infringing regulations; urge bus station management units in collaboration with public passenger transport facilities to tighten the management of vehicles  and meet technical standards before leaving terminals. 
 
Besides, the department in collaboration the Hanoi Police will urge transportation inspectors, road, railway and waterway traffic policemen and functional forces to establish mobile cross-funcional teams to patrol and guarantee traffic safety and order on routes and in areas of high  risk of traffic accidents; and strictly handle infractions.  
 
Among the tasks stated in the document include working with district/township People’s Committees and rail and waterway units to take action to ensure traffic safety at intersection of  roads and railways; promptly detecting risks of unsafe roads in the above locations and coordinating with functional agencies to solve the situation, among others.
 
Meanwhile, the Department of Information and Communications will take prime responsibility and work with Departments of Transport, Education and Training, Police, district/township People’s Committees, Municipal Traffic Safety Committee, Hanoi Youth Union, Hanoi Radio Television and press agencies to strengthen communication, dissemination and education of regulations on traffic safety and order  to raise all road users’ awareness while praising good people and good deeds in compliance with traffic laws as well as criticizing organizations and individuals infringing Traffic Safety Law.
