The plan aims at raising the community awareness of energy saving, environmental protection and climate change adaption towards a low carbon economy; encouraging organizations, individuals to take part in the campaign and take action in the coming time for energy saving and environmental protection.
According to the plan, Ha Noi will cooperate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to strengthen the popularization of the slogan “Go moregreen” and launch the campaign from 20:30 – 23:00 on March 3 at King Ly Thai To Flower Garden, Hoan Kiem District.
Ha Noi will encourage agencies, organizations, schools, enterprises, households and residential areas to organize a series of activities in response to the campaign, such as: switching off lights and other unnecessary electric devices during the 60-minute earth hour (from 20:30 – 21:30 on March 24), contests on energy saving and environmental protection, etc.
The capital city will turn off lights for an hour in public areas, such as: Ngoc Son Temple – Turtle Tower – The Huc Bridge, Ly Thai To Flower Garden, areas around Hoan Kiem Lake, Ha Noi Opera House, etc.
The Department of Industry and Trade will take prime responsibility and coordinate with departments, sectors to advise the Municipal People’s Committee to set up a plan in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2018; cooperate with the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, WWF Viet Nam and relevant units to kick off the campaign; urge units to implement the plan and give a report to the Municipal People’s Committee.
Departments, sectors, People’s Committees of districts, towns and relevant units are asked to respond to the campaign; turn off lights for an hour (from 20:30 – 21:30 on March 24).
