Major missions to develop clean water supply system by 2020 (21:39 13/06/2018)

HNP – The Ha Noi People’s Committee released Plan No. 131/KH-UBND on June 11th, deploying specific tasks to develop the clean water supply system in the capital city by 2020.

Accordingly, the city will focus on accelerating the progress of four projects which will finish in 2018 and seven others which will be completed in the 2019-2020 period.

14 projects with the scale of 34 communes, 70,391 households and 281,564 people were started construction in 2017.

9 others with the scale of 78 communes, 168,295 households and 673,180 residents will be implemented in 2018 so as to increase the rate of rural areas having clean water to about 55%.

The Municipal People’s Committee will consider and approve investments in water supply network  projects for communes which have not yet built water supply stations in districts, Me Linh, Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Dan Phuong, Thach That, Chuong My.

For projects scheduled to be completed in the 2019 - 2020 period, investors are urged to develop the clean water supply network by 2020 in line with the building of water supply plants as planned. The city strives to supply clean water to more than 80% of residents in rural areas by 2019 and 100% by 2020.

It is important to carry  out the goals and orientations approved by the Prime Minister at Decision No. 2055/QD-TTg dated December 20, 2017 on approving missions of adjusting the water supply planning of Ha Noi by 2030, a vision to 2050.

Particularly, by 2020, 100% of population in urban areas, about 90%-100% in satellite urban areas and 90%-100% in rural areas will access clean water according to the Health Ministry’s standard.

Investors are tasked to perfect the processes of management and operation; supplement water purification systems; protect and upgrade plumbing systems to ensure stable operation; complete water supply connections for households in areas having water supply projects with the roadmap for implementation by 2020.

Water trading companies and investors who invested in the clean water supply network are assigned to review the status of water plants, water supply stations; make plans, roadmaps on adjusting, supplementing modern water treatment technologies and replacing degraded pipeline system in order to ensure water meeting standards of drinking tap water; give a report to the Department of Construction before October 31, 2018.

The city suggested the Ministry of Health, the Health Environment Management Department give instructions and issue standards of drinking tap water with the roadmap for implementation by 2020.
